2018 Rotary Tuakau Charity Dinner
The club held its once in every two-year Charity Dinner and Action on the 21st August at the Tuakau Cosmopolitan Club, with a theme: Young and the Old. This was a huge success, whereby the club raised $17 000 (including expenses) through ticket sales and the auction. The beneficiaries from the funds raised are Tuakau Onewhero Sea Scouts, Selwyn Centre, Silver Fern Motorsport and the Tuakau Youth Centre.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank our major sponsors (as shown on the right) and all other donors for their cash prizes, vouchers and auction items. A hearty and sincere thanks to all the members of the local community for purchasing the tickets and supporting for the good cause. A huge thank you to all the club members for their time, efforts and contributions of any kind in the organisation of this event.
The club’s board met a fortnight ago and has decided on the contributions for each of the beneficiaries of the funds raised through the charity dinner. Sometimes, by in October, each of these deserving institutions will be presented with their cheques at one of our club meetings at Tuakau Hotel.
2018 Clean Up Day
From the photo given below, Tuakau won the 2017 nation Keeping New Zealand Beautiful. This year, Tuakau Clean-up Day and Tree Planting was held on Sunday 16th September.

This is the 6th year, Tuakau Rotary has been actively involved in this campaign. The club members (President Chris Betty, Davendra Kumar and Mike Stewart) assisted with registrations, rubbish collection along Elizabeth Street, Geraghty’s Road and Booth Crescent, and BBQ at the Les Batkin Reserve. The members of the local community were asked to adopt a fruit trees to take away home as well as lots of information and resources on pest control by a specialist (Andrew) from Waikato District Council. Tuakau Rotary provided the sausage sizzle for lunch while Tuakau Lions provided morning tea.
A huge thanks goes to our local councillor Jacqui Church for her initiative and passion this project. Members of the community (consisting of the young and old) and various voluntary groups rendered their time towards this campaign. This was and will always be another great annual project for Rotary Tuakau.

Visit to the Rotary Club of Papatoetoe West
A group of our club members (Chris Betty, Davendra Kumar, Mike Stewart, Ethol Berry, Heather Blanchard, Alwyn and Jill Marshall) had an opportunity to attend a dinner meeting with Papatoetoe West Rotary Club on Wednesday 12th September at Papatoetoe Cosmopolitan Club.
It was a great evening out with a lovely dinner and share great experiences and achievements of the other two clubs. The club had organised some games and fun activities for the guests and as well as for the host club members. It was also an opportunity for our club president Chris Betty to share his ideas on our club activities and projects, concerns and issues and ways to move forward.

We would like to thank President Sherley and her club members for the invite and would like to turn the favour in the coming Summer months.
